Harmonization

To see this blue, green, white and brown orb from outer space, this ship bearing us on a journey through the universe, reminds us of the perfection that is the creation.

When Reiki is evoked -- when we tune into the frequency of the all-calming, all-righting energy -- we are tapping into a sense of the ineffable wonder that is the Divine.

These words here can only describe Reiki so much. They may offer us angles into the reality of what Reiki ultimately is, but never really reach it. Words are only symbolizers, as famous psychoanalyst, anthropologist, and linguist Jacques Laçan noted. They never reach the truth. Plato reached the same conclusion long ago.

In the Jewish tradition, it is utterly impossible to describe God. There are several parts of the Old Testament that reference God covering the eyes of the prophets and priests so that he cannot be seen, "lest ye die." I often wonder at this.

What would be so beguiling to behold, about the Creator, that one cannot behold this being?

The only answer I can come up with is one I've heard before. As perfect as human bodies are in terms of design (if you believe, as I do, that the Creation is already perfect), we are still an extremely limited species -- still very much on a pathway toward becoming something even greater.

Perhaps in hundreds of thousands, or millions of years, our living bodies might be able to comprehend the Divine, without overloading us.

But for now, we have various pathways into seeing the Divine. We see it when we truly Love -- not out of neediness, but out of the purity of becoming a generous spirit. We see it when we experience serenity -- in nature, with a friend. And I think we also reach it many other ways -- meditating, laughing joyfully, even dancing (so I'm told) can take people there.

Reaching out to touch the divine -- to reach that harmony. Moment by moment. This is what we hope for, and what we can decide when we take the time out necessary to appreciate all we have. -- In peace, Wolf
